After a quiet day
yesterday today was busy day, 25,000 steps and 16.5km. That equates to 38 flights of stairs…therefore
eat anything day!!!
Today we started at
Inari temple.
Fushimi Inari Taisha is the
head shrine of Inari, located in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto,
Japan. The shrine sits at the base of a mountain also named Inari
which is 233 metres above sea level, and includes trails up the mountain to
many smaller shrines which span 4 kilometers and takes approximately 2 hours to
walk up. I walk up to selection 6 in the half an hour designated.

Then off to the Samuri
Castle (Nigo Castle). Nijo Castle was built in 1603 by the infamous
Tokugawa shogunate. The castle defended the nearby Kyoto Imperial Palace and
was a place for shoguns to stay when they visited Kyoto. Almost 400 years later, in
1994, it officially became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 1626 the
castle underwent a huge renovation and there are still remains in the castle
grounds from that time.
